Cheap shot

Incredulous is also the word we use this week to describe our reaction to former Humboldt Creamery CEO Rich Ghilarducci’s attorney’s emails to The Enterprise. His opening shot — asking us if we are a “journalist,” prompted us to question whether Elliot Peters was reading this paper. We quickly and emphatically explained to him in our reply that we, so far, are the only newspaper that has attempted to talk firsthand to Ghilarducci, going so far as to knock on his front door at his new home in Scottsdale (not to mention the dozen or so emails and calls to Peters). Asked to explain his statements about the CEO and his “infusion” of cash into the creamery before he abruptly resigned . . . well, we are still waiting for Peters’ reply.

Guilty or innocent, we have no idea. It’ll be a long time before the public knows the truth about the worrisome events at the creamery. What we do know, is that Ghilarducci’s high-priced San Francisco attorney, (the same description Peters’ gave the creamery’s attorneys), is, at this point, not doing much to help his client — especially before his hometown crowd.
